Blue Whale challenge; save your child

Mother: Son! What was that?

Son: Nothing serious Mom. (by hiding the pain and washing the smelly colors in the bathroom)

Mother: How many times I told you not to go near sharp things.

Son: I didn’t touch anything seriously. Stop being loud…

Mother: Then who did this on your leg? Did you fight with anyone early morning? I haven’t even seen you going out.

Son: Relax Mom… It’s just a red paint I was playing around. This is not blood… (and he ran away before she tests it)

Mother got confused and she thought she was getting unnecessary tension and laughed at son’s activity. She failed to realise the blood smell and failed to understand the psychic changes which are negatively effecting her son day by day… She has no idea, that she has already started losing her child.

Unstoppable online game has started its game all over the world. This is not even new game, still people fighting to get rid of this from play store. That’s called “Blue Whale Challenge”. It has already stamped its footprint over Indian Media.

What is Blue Whale?

The Blue Whale Game also “Blue Whale Challenge”, is an “Internet game” which still exists in many countries. The game allegedly consists of a series of 50-day period tasks assigned to players by administrators, starting from the self-harming attitude to killing themselves. The term “Blue Whale” comes from the phenomenon of beached whales, which is linked to suicide.

The History of Blue Whale?

Blue Whale began in Russia in 2013 with “F57”, one of the names of the so-called “death group” of the VKontakte social network, and allegedly caused its first suicide in 2015. Said game was invented by Philipp Budeikin, psychology student who wanted to make society ‘clean’ from those who feel themselves valueless. He wanted weak people to end with suicide and get away from this society. The negative effect of psychology creates sharp stories on weak mind. And it is clear that he had another angle of him, having weak mind with full of fear and hesitation. He turned his weakness into game so that he could hide his psychic pain. He got arrested and pled guilty to “inciting at least 16 teenage girls to commit suicide”. Russia renewed world wild concern, since Blue Whale phenomenon was getting linked to Self-harm trends in China and other countries.

How does the game works?

Basically the game is played online with the set of other participants and by receiving the guidelines from the administrator. (Finding administrators is a tough task since they could be anyone handling the participants through internet media). This game contains series of duties given by admin to the participants with the restriction of completing it within given period of time. Even though the game period is 50 days, if participant fails to complete means, he should face the blackmails from Admin end, since admin has got the access to other apps and information of participant from the scratch.

Tasks could even contain waking up at 4:20 AM, climbing a crane, carving a specific phrase on the person’s own hand or arm, poking a needle to the arm or leg, standing on a bridge and roof, doing secret tasks, listening to music every day, and watching videos sent to the challengers by the administrator which are psychologically ill in nature.

Even though participant feel like he is taking dare challenge and he is winning it, somehow he loses the consciousness and creates a weak side of himself unknowingly. Unfortunately, that game ends with “Committing Suicide”, since he fails to understand that, he was trapped all those days. At the end of the day Winner will be the Administrator and not the participants.

Psychological Aspects; logic behind the Game

Teenage is the age from when actual curiosity with respect to self-transition begins. The age where you realize being Man/Women, Mature, Daring, Strong, Independent etc. creates multiple thoughts with positive as well as negative effect. If you are strong, you will start ignoring those kind of thoughts and concentrate on which aspect you are good at. If not means, you will easily get brain washed and start accepting the challenges which makes you feel strong from weak person. The wish “I want to become strong and daring” will lead weak minded people to try something different. In fact, people with weak mind, who think they are following right path will be redirected to be forced being weak and depressed.

Current Scenario of Blue whale challenge status

This has taken many teenagers lives from countries Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China Colombia, Georgia, India, Italy, Kenya, Paraguay, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Spain, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela. It is found that, Where, India is finding more frequent cases are being reported till now.

We can see 5-6 cases have already been registered in India during these last 2 months. Unfortunately, it has become the big challenge for Concerned Higher departments and many families to stop this tragedy at the earliest.

Recently reported issues,

On 26th July 2017, 16-year-old boy hanged himself after playing this game; and it continued in Andheri (East) Mumbai on 30th July, 14-Year-old by jumping from 7th floor; On 10th August Class VII boy from the city Indore at the school; and by 14-year-old boy got missing from the bus he was travelling; On 12th August Tenth grade student from West Bengal by covering his face with plastic bag; and being the most recent case, on 16th August 2017 in Kerala 22-Year-old man hanged himself by blaming Blue whale, even after promising his mother that he will stop these nonsense.

Parents who were unaware of these happenings, got to know about their child being trapped by Blue whale challenge, only when they saw all 50 day challenges were reported in the phone on a day to day basic before death has taken place.

Finding solution; a big challenge

I always think, why the game still exists on the play store even after taking so many lives. Then I read somewhere, that the game on the play store is different from the online challenge! Shocking!  Unfortunately reports says, it is not easy!… Family’s from many countries have already been appealed for the same to remove this platform. Investigation says, they have no clue regarding the person who is hiding like admin, he might be anyone among us, sitting in front of system and ordering the tasks and watching the death as fun, thinking he is doing right think. I sometimes get doubt, making others die might be one of the task allotted to participant before his death. Horrifying!

Instead of waiting for the solution, its better parents observe their child behaviour and report it before something bad happens. Taking promises and restricting them will not help once the child gets trapped. Saying and taking promises might be easy to the extent your child is in your control. Once the child is trapped, it’s impossible to get him/her from the death well. Understand that, your child might be going through the threats/blackmails since admin has the access to your information. And, let the child convey the truth slowly, so that you will get the clue how to track that person and save your child. Hence it’s better treat it as decease and consult the doctor for his/her recovery. It’s all in Parents hand now.
